Some days you wake up and you are motivated, happy, and ready to go... but unfortunately it is not always like that! For myself personally, I can admit that the majority of days I do not have a problem getting myself to go and do my workout. This is because I have been building this habit for over a year now, so going to the gym feels like second nature.
Despite this, I still have my days where I really have to push myself. You can not count on yourself to be motivated everyday because we are human! Motivation can fade away at times. Sometimes we feel a bit off and that is 100% okay. I am here to keep you on the right track!
1. Plan to go to the gym with a friend.
No excuses. I can assure you that you will be able to find at least one friend that will be willing to go to the gym with you! By planning to meet someone for your workout it will give you an extra push to get there. It is also a great tool to keep you accountable!
If you are someone that dreads the gym, the time will go by so much faster when you are with a gym partner. Just make sure that you don't spend all your time talking to one another! (I know so many of us are guilty of this one.) There is nothing wrong with conversation, but it is important that you are working out with a purpose.
2. Set a fitness related goal.
Having a goal in mind can be an excellent way to get you fired up and inside the gym! With the help of goals we can better visualize what we want to attain on out fitness journey. I would recommend setting a goal for the week and the month.
For example, you could say, "This week I want to squat 135 pounds and by the end of the month I want to get up to a 145 pound squat." Write this goal out somewhere that you will be able to see it everyday and that can be your push for whenever you consider to fall off of your routine.
3. Put time aside within your day to go workout.
I am a huge advocate for planning ahead when it comes to the flow of my day. I feel like if I don't have a game plan for my how I want my day to go, it will not run smoothly. Say you want to get into the gym tomorrow afternoon, but you feel as if you will not be able to "find the time." No problem! Let's CREATE the time! Get out your phone or your agenda, and put aside an hour or two specifically to working out. It makes it so much easier to get something done when you have already prioritized what you want to do ahead of time.
4. Try a workout class for an extra push.
Most gyms offer various workout classes to their members! (And I have another one coming soon for my beginners and my workout junkies located in South Florida so stay tuned!)
If you are tired of the same routine or maybe you do not know where to start, I would definitely say trying a workout class could be beneficial. Workout classes are amazing because you are surrounded by like minded individuals and it will make it much harder to slack off throughout your exercises.
5. Put together a cute gym outfit.
When I have a nice gym outfit put together, my excitement to get into the gym is through the roof. Something about knowing that you look amazing can really help to get you off your butt. A quote that I love by Georges St. Pierre says, "If you look good, you feel good, and if you feel good, you do good."
This does not mean you have to go out and buy the newest workout gear. It can be as simple as putting on a bright pair of leggings or wearing a sports bra instead of a tank top. Do whatever makes you feel beautiful and allows your confidence to shine through!
